The front of the Welsh Liberal Democrats' manifesto contains five priorities to build a stronger economy and a fairer society, creating opportunity for everyone in Wales.
- Prosperity for all: Balance the budget fairly and invest to build a high skill, low carbon economy
- Fair taxes: Cut your taxes by an additional £400 by raising the tax-free allowance to £12,500
- Quality health care for all: Increase resources for our NHS and ensure safe staffing levels
- Opportunity for every child: Invest in our schools through our Pupil Premium
- A stronger Wales: Deliver Home Rule for Wales with further powers and fair funding
Veronica German, Lib Dem Parliamentary Candidate for Monmouth said:
"Welsh Lib Dems have set out five priorities for five years. Five steps on the path to a stronger economy and a fairer society.
“A stronger economy means finishing the job of balancing the books, but doing so fairly, with the wealthiest in our society paying their fair share.
“But a stronger economy means so much more than just clearing the deficit. We need a strong economy so that we have the finances to be able to improve our public services and build a fairer society.
“In Government, the Liberal Democrats have delivered on the front page of our previous General Election manifesto. Children and schools are benefiting from our Pupil Premium, whilst Wales’ lowest paid are no longer paying Income Tax. We will build on this progress.
“We all know the huge strain that our NHS is under. Therefore the Welsh Liberal Democrats are committed to not only protecting our health budget, but increasing it too. Alongside increasing resources for our NHS, we will implement our ‘More Nurses’ bill. We will ensure we have the right number of nurses on hospital wards, giving nurses more time to care for each patient and ensuring better outcomes for patients.
“Devolution is in the DNA of Liberal Democrats. Already in Government we have delivered tax and borrowing powers for Wales. But we will go further: we are the only party to pledge to fully implement the proposals in the Silk Commission. Likewise, we are the only party to make a manifesto commitment that we will deliver fair funding for Wales. A vote for the Welsh Liberal Democrats is a vote for a stronger Wales.”
